Disney World Travel and Savings Guide: How to Have the Disney World Vacation of a Lifetime.
To be candid I was not expecting much from this guide when I bought it online. As you know we are always exploring ways to save money at Disney World and are pretty good at it. We are constantly refreshing our knowledge with frequent trips, (we just got back from a three week Disney Extravaganza!) and constant reading/studying books on Disney World.
However we have to give Beth Harwood, the author, credit where credit is due. As an ex Disney employee she digs in deep, and has uncovered real Disney gold along the way.
What we liked about this book is that she does not let the information get dated. The Disney World Travel and Savings Guide is updated one or two times a month as she discovers new nuggets of knowledge.

What we liked most:
The travel guide is easy to use. All 186 pages are available with the click of a hyperlink, or for those so inclined, the push of the print button on the printer.
Beth tells you exactly what she has updated (and the date of the last update) so that you don’t spend time trying to reread previous information looking for a change.
The Disney World Travel and Savings Guide delves into more than one would normally see in guides written by big publishing houses with deadlines and printing cost considerations. Some of my favorites were:
- Ticket Savings Strategies
- Military tickets;
- Savings through a convention ticket purchase;
- Florida Residents ticket savings.
- How to manage child care
- Packing;
- Strollers;
- Child care services.
- How to get major discounts off retail prices
- Disney discount stores in Orlando (i.e. off campus);
- Disney Pin Trading.
- How to use the “Rider Switch Pass” to take turns with those traveling with you
- Strategies for choosing the least crowded park
- Disney Venue deep detail, called “Fun at: ” Disney’s Magic Kingdom; Disney’s EPCOT; Disney’s Hollywood Studios; Disney’s Animal Kingdom; Downtown Disney; Disney’s Pleasure Island; Disney’s Quest; Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex; Disney’s Golf Courses; The Disney Wilderness Preserve.
We also liked that the guide covers:
- Weddings at Disney World;
- Wheelchair and scooter rental;
- How to bring your pet;
- What to do if an emergency happens;
- What else can be done in the Orlando Area;
- Disney contests and special events, and because it is updated every few weeks;
