It costs a lot of money to attend Disney World’s famous parks. Most people feel it’s worth the price of course, but it is a large part of the cost of a Walt Disney World vacation. There are a number of ways to reduce the cost, including carefully weighing the park options and paying only for what you use – overpaying (buying more than what you use) is almost as common as underpaying (and buying ‘top up’ tickets at premium prices later), so step one is to plan your vacation wisely. Essentially here are the options:

Will you go to one Disney park per day, or multiple parks per day?
Are you planning on attending other venues outside of Disney such as Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Center or Sea World, or are you going to WDW’s parks the entire time (and need extra WDW days)?
Would you like the two Disney waterparks add on?

The fact is, getting creative about how you’ll utilize a Disney vacation is they key to financial success – don’t pay for what you won’t use, but don’t under-buy either; add on days are relatively cheap if you use them, and a complete waste if you don’t.

Once you’ve determined what you want, then you need to seek the best possible price for your tickets. Keep in mind that Disney is a monopoly – if you want to go to Disney World, then only Disney World offers its six parks: this fact alone means that if you want Disney World cheaply, your discounts will be limited up to about 10 percent.

As you can see if you’re interested in a single park per day, the savings is not much. When you move into multiple parks per day the savings start to add up. When you then add additional park days and then add water parks (the most common type of ticket combination), the savings are significant.
